About

M.T. & Cori Anderson

There are 4 major components to High Desert Cattle Company. We have our registered Hereford operation, our registered Angus operation, our commercial cow/calf herd and our bred heifer program. Our Hereford and Angus divisions are devoted to raising top quality range bulls. Our bulls are marketed annually at a variety of sales. The largest outlet is the Rolling Rock Angus sale every March in Pilot Rock, OR. We also sell bulls at the Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale. The commercial cow/calf operation is a big part of what we do. Our cows summer on USFS grazing allotments that we trail to in the spring, and trail home from in the fall. Our calves are marketed annually on Superior Livestock. Our bred heifer division continues to have strong demand. We purchase large strings of one-iron heifers and AI them to breed leading Angus bulls and market them in truckload lots. We generally market 350 – 400 heifers annually.

We live in Izee, OR which is a small unincorporated community in the southwest corner of Grant County. It is remote and our only neighbors are other ranches. We love our part of the world and are glad to get to share it with others. High Desert Cattle Company started not long after we were married. M.T. buckarooed for other ranches and Cori had several registered Hereford cows from her childhood. We leased ground to run our few head of cows and worked on other ranches. Over the years we started to expand our operation and by 2004 it was becoming a larger ranching operation. Fast forward to today and we now run hundreds of cows on owned and leased ground in excess of 63,000 acres. We are living proof that hard work, determination, and perseverance can help you reach your goals and have success.

We have 3 children that are integral to our operation and help us to keep the whole outfit rolling. Cinch graduated from TVCC with a degree in equine business in 2022. He currently cowboys in Idaho and Northern Nevada and is a good hand. We appreciate anytime he can come home and help out. Raney is a student at Grant Union High School (John Day, OR) and loves horses as much as she loves cattle. Although sports keep her very busy she still finds time to cowboy all summer. Monel is our youngest daughter and she also is a student at Grant Union. She has trailed cattle hundreds of miles and is great help as well. All 3 kids are ranch raised and we depend on them all to help us keep the ranch running smoothly.
